SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS

Our school is excited to read with Scholastic Book Clubs! It’s a great way to build up your child’s book collection at home and help them improve their reading skills. And when you shop with Clubs, your orders earn points we can redeem for books and other classroom supplies we need.

Here’s how it works: we’ll send home flyers throughout the year. If you decide to place an order, you can do that through our class ordering page. Your books will arrive at school about 10 days after we submit all orders.

Order due date: 09/28/26

Class code: GWWND

PRESCHOOL: Miss Lokensgard

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom week is underway. This week we are singing new songs and learning about the ABCs. We are focusing on our problem-solving skills and how to be a good friend. We will be acting out different ways on how we can handle our solving skills by using puppets.

We are also learning 3 more feelings. We will be focusing on anxiety, confident, and peace. We will be talking about if we have ever had a time when we have felt like that.

This week's bible story is God created the world. Our memory treasure is Let the little children come to me. Mark 10:14

Tuesday- Writing Center: Our first journal page. The question was "What's your favorite part of school?"

Activity Center: Paint a picture with rollers, brushes, and stamps.

Wednesday- Writing Center: Learn how to write with a Q-Tip.

Activity Center: Make binoculars to find what God has made in the world.

Thursday- Writing Center: Writing our names in shaving cream.

Activity Center: Learn how to make letters with playdough.

PRESCHOOL: Mrs. Dragt

Welcome To Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Week

Monday - Hope you all had a fantastic Labor Day weekend!

Tuesday - We read the book I’m Not Just a Scribble and learned that even though we may

look different than others, we are all beautiful in our own ways because that is the way God

made us! Then, for Art, we made our own scribble monsters. They turned out super cute! In

large motor, we played a fun ball game with Ms. Lokensgard's class. Today, we learned the

classroom rule to be kind!

Wednesday- We continued to work on our class rules. Today we talked about how important it is to be honest, and we earned an honesty badge! We also worked on our pre-writing skills. This helps make those tricky slanted and curved lines in our letters and numbers.

Thursday - Today's classroom rule is how to be safe inside and outside the classroom. We also practiced scissor skills to build our fine motor skills.

Friday - We continued working on fine motor and glue skills. We ripped paper into small pieces and glued them onto the letter of our first name. Show and share this week is to make your best Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree with mom and dad. Get creative; ideas include drawing, coloring, Play-Doh, or popsicle sticks.

Our Jesus story is God Created Our World. Memory Treasure: God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

KINDERGARTEN: Mrs. Eckstrand

This week our Bible lesson is God saves Adam and Eve. We learned that Adam and Eve sinned, but God promised to send his Son, Jesus, to be our Savior.  John 3:16 God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  It's a long one, but we practice it a lot every day at school.  They all got their memory stickers last week too!

In Reading, we will be finishing our warm up book.  We have practiced tracing and making all kinds of lines.  We have been Rhyming, and we are making sounds with our Phonic Friends.

In Writing, we started this week by making our letters, each one, on the correct lines, and with correct hands.  No letters start at the bottom, and they all move from left to right with strokes.

We just got our Math books, but we've already been counting and doing patterns, along with recognizing our teen numbers.

This week we also started our Spirals.  These are sheets that continually review letters, numbers, lines, reading, writing, sounding, etc... you'll see them in folders as they come home 😊

1-2nd: Mrs. Markgraf

Greetings families!

This week the first and second graders are continuing to build our class community and set expectations and procedures. Taking time at the beginning of year to establish these routines pays off throughout the school year. We have started our daily spiral sheets which help students review little pieces of different math and ELA skills continuously throughout the year. I am also doing one-on-one phonics evaluations so I can get an idea of where each student is in his or her reading journey.

Our Bible stories bring us to Christmas time already! We are learning the story of Jesus' birth and meeting Simeo and Anna in the temple. Our Memory Treasure is Galatians 4:4a, When the set time had fully come, God sent his Son.

God bless your week!

3-5th: Ms. Ewart

Hello parents, friends and families!

This week in Word of God, we are singing “Christ be Our Leader”. This week 3-5 is learning about the birth of Jesus (Christmas in September)! We will continue with Jesus brought to the temple as a young boy.

In Math, we continue learning about number sense. We are comparing numbers in the thousands in 3rd-4th while 5th is multiplying and dividing by base ten numbers.

In Language Arts, we are learning about prepositions in 3rd and 4th while 5th grade is beginning to find helping verbs within sentences.

All three grades are learning about fables, myths and legends in Reading class. We’re looking at the small differences between the three so we can distinguish between them.

Finally, in Social Studies we are labeling the seven continents and five oceans on world maps (continuing Geography).

God's Blessings!

6-8th: Mr. Holz

Hello Parents, Family and Friends,

This week we are focusing on getting into our normal routine for classes. We will also be focusing on the basics in several subjects. In Math we are working to get our multiplication tables down perfectly to help us throughout the year. In Grammar we will be memorizing prepositions and in Reading we are looking at how to interpret an author’s meaning. In Science we will be starting with a project on how to use maps. In US History we will be starting with the first settlers in the U.S.
