CHURCH SINGING
Every month the whole school uses our talents to beautify the WELS churches in our surrounding area. All families are encouraged to join for each of the Sundays. Our students have been practicing during school, and they are excited to share their voices with the congregations. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our school community together and to thank our churches for all they do for our school!
Please click on the link below to let us know if your family WILL NOT make it. We know there are many churches that feed into our school family; we understand if you are able to sing but need to leave after. All are welcome to stay for the entire service.
Our first Sunday is October 4th at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hutchinson. Service begins at 10:00, please arrive by 9:45. Students will gather in the church basement.

Everything this week is about apples. We are sorting apples by color, size, and shape. We are sorting them in a graph and in buckets. We are going to taste test apples to see what we like better, red, green, or yellow. We are also talking about what apple trees look like in different seasons and what a life cycle apple tree looks like. We are also focusing on the letter Ff, shape circle, color red and the number 2. We are still singing fun songs about rhyming words and ABC’s. Our bible story is Abraham is counting the stars. Memory treasure is I trust in you O Lord. Psalms 31:4

Welcome To Apple Week
Focus Wall
Letter: Letters in our friends' names
Number: 2
Color: Orange
Shape: Square
Monday - We worked on our fine motor skills. We stuck toothpicks into apples and made a fun creation, then pulled them out and made another. We also wired on our names. We wrote our names on apples, cut them into stripes to make a puzzle, then glued them back together.
Tuesday - This week we are learning about sorting, and our first sorting activity is sorting the
uppercase and lowercase first letters of our names. We also sorted Legos by color and shape.
Wednesday- For art, we made apples out of paper plates. We ripped or cut paper and glued it on. We then continued working on our sorting. Today, we sorted apples by color. We also played another I Spy game, but this time we found the number 2.
Thursday - Our third sorting activity is sorting apples by size; then we dissected them and
learned all about the different parts of an apple.
Friday - Show and share is: bring in your favorite stuffed animal. We also worked on writing the number 2.
Our Jesus story is Count the Star. Memory Treasure: With God, all things are possible. Matthew 19:26

This week our Bible lesson focuses on God's promise to Abraham. We learned that Abraham and Sarah prayed for children and God promised his descendants would be as many as the stars. After Abraham met and helped 3 travelers who were really the LORD and 2 angels, they told Abraham his prayers would be answered with a son in a year. As Sarah laughed, the LORD reminded them that nothing is impossible with God. Abraham and Sarah became parents to Issac. Hebrew 10:23b reminds us Since He who promised is faithful.
In Reading this week we took our Unit 1 test. Then we got to meet Adam. We will go on /a/adventures with Adam and the Aa /a/ sound. We are focusing on recognizing the beginning sound of any word.
In Math we have begun Unit 2, all about the numbers 1-5. You will notice that we really spend a lot of time on the number 1-10 because a good foundation in all the parts and pieces to these numbers really helps them grow their math and understanding.
In Writing, we are drawing some very cool pictures and even adding our own words. Who knew that writing was just very specific drawing. 😉
On Thursday, we have a very special science package "arriving". I've heard Dr. Science and his laboratories were needing extra help with their research, so I volunteered our class. Every few weeks our classroom can expect a Science box from Dr. Science with something new to discover.
1-2nd: Mrs. Markgraf
This week our class is getting back to regular lessons after testing last week. In math second graders are continuing to work on place value into the hundreds, especially comparing these greater numbers. First graders started a new unit focused on a math tool called number bonds where we can identify the parts that go together to make a whole number.
In reading first grade students are learning about words with consonant blends including s and l. Second grade is reviewing consonant digraphs where two or three letters go together to make one distinct sound. Everyone is anticipating the first spelling test of the year.
Our Bibles lessons are focused on the stories of The Baptism of Jesus and Jesus is Tempted. In these stories we learn that Jesus came to take our place. Our Memory Treasure is Psalm 119:105, Your words are a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. God bless your week!
3-5th: Ms. Ewart
