PRESCHOOL: Miss Lokensgard

This week, we are learning all about pets and how to take care of them. We will also be voting on our favorite pets and using our votes to practice comparing numbers with more than and less than. We will also be reviewing our classroom rules and classroom safety. Our bible story this week is Noah’s ark. We are learning about how God always keeps his promises. The memory verse this week is For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son. John 3:16. We are also diving into learning about our letter Ll , shape circle, number 1, and the color red this week. We are also starting our Haggerty lesson with fun rhyming words and singing new songs. For our large motor activity, we are going to practice kicking a ball.

PRESCHOOL: Mrs. Dragt

Welcome To Pet Week

Focus Wall

Letter: Letters in our friends' names

Number: 1

Color: Red

Shape: Circle

Monday - We worked on our fine motor skills by hole-punching a bunch of shapes. It got a little hard and frustrating, but they did great! For a quick break, we read The Gruffalo.

Tuesday - Noah's Ark is our Jesus story this week, so I figured practicing writing our names and making a rainbow would be a perfect idea.

Wednesday- Drawing a person can be hard! We learned that when drawing people, we need more than a head, arms, and legs. We need to add a body in there! Lol

We worked on recognizing the number with an I Spy sheet. First, we covered the 1s up with

magnetic spots and used a magnet to remove them. Then we did it again but used a dabber the second time.

Thursday - We matched letters again. This time each child had a tray with letters hidden under rice. They had to dig and find a letter and then find it on their sheet and dot it with a dabber. For our STEM activity, we used shaving cream and foam blocks to build whatever kind of structure they wanted.

Friday - Show and share is: bring in a picture of your pet. We also worked on writing the

number 1.

Our Jesus story is Noah’s Big Boat. Memory Treasure: I trust in you, O Lord. Psalm 31:14

KINDERGARTEN: Mrs. Eckstrand

This week our Bible lesson was "God saves Noah's family".  We learned that all the people in the world, except the 8 people in Noah's family, did not believe or trust in God.  So, God decided to destroy the world with a flood.  He saved Noah and his family, along with 2 of every kind of animal.  He had Noah build an ark.  When the water dried and Noah came out, they thanked God.  Then God sent the first rainbow as a promise never to flood the whole world again.  1 Timothy 2:4 (God) wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth is our memory treasure.

In Reading we Finished making crafts with Mya and met a new superkid Cass.  Cass loves cooking with her cat Coconut.  We will do activities with her and the Cc /k/ sound.

In Math, we are finishing up Unit 1 all about sorting.

In Writing we continue with our letters. We're already up to L, M, N, O and P.

In Phy Ed we have been working on kicking balls while standing and also while running up to it.

1-2nd: Mrs. Markgraf

Greetings! This week our class is putting much of our mental energy toward completing our MAP tests. These standardized tests are used in conjunction with daily work and teacher observations to help us monitor student progress. They help to identify areas of growth and need so we can better support each student. It is wonderful to see students working hard this week and growing throughout the school year.

We are able to still fit many other things in during our day. For reading students in first grade are wrapping up their review of all the letter formations and sounds. Second graders are thinking about ways to make long vowel sounds such as "Super e" and open syllable words. Both groups have started working on reading weekly fluency passages.

In Word of God this week we hear about boy Jesus at the temple during Passover and John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness. Our Memory Treasure is John 1:29b, "Look! The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" God's blessings!

3-5th: Ms. Ewart

Hello all,

3-5 has been having a great week! In Christ Light we are learning about the wisemen, Jesus in the temple, and towards the end of the week, John the Baptist.

In math, third grade is starting a new chapter on estimating addition and subtraction of larger numbers. Fourth grade is learning unconventional ways to add and subtract and they’re getting into word problems. Fifth grade is continuing to learn about equations and the order of operations.

In Language Arts, third and fourth will begin to wrap up prepositions while fifth grade moves on to verbs. We are wrapping up our unit on fables, myths and legends and will be moving into novels next week!

Unfortunately, with MAP testing we won’t have a lot of time for Social Studies this week, but we will start getting into communities and how the government plays a role in our community.

God’s Blessings!

6-8th: Mr. Holz

Hello Parents, Family and Friends,

In Math 6th grade is working on the basics of equations. 7th grade is working through the review for their first test. 8th grade is also preparing for their first test.  In Grammar we are looking through the different unusual uses of prepositions.  In Reading we are currently reading the short story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling. In Science we will be covering the basics of the structure of the earth. In US History we will be studying the first explorers who came to the Americas.
