COLORED SHEETS
Forms have been sent home. These are our Request Forms from the district. Each child in kindergarten through 8th grade must have a packet filled out by the parents and returned to school by Friday, September 5th.
These forms get us money from the school district to use towards textbooks/tests, health services, and guidance/counseling services. If you check YES, we receive money for the items. If you check NO, we will not receive money for that pupil.
We utilize the textbook money for purchasing all our workbooks and any needed textbooks for the year as well as testing programs. Health services support our district nurse that comes out to do eye and hearing tests, if you check NO for this your student/s will not get that testing done here at school.
PICTURE DAY
Monday, September 8th is picture day. Don't forget to get those cute outfits and haircuts over the weekend! Order forms will be sent home today.
Preschool Parents: If you do not have your child signed up to come this day you can either bring your child to school between 9:30-10:00 just for pictures or please let Miss Lokensgard or Mrs. Dragt know as soon as possible if you would like to add this day to your child’s preschool calendar.

PRESCHOOL (3): Miss Lokensgard
We have had a great start to the school year. We have learned about summer trees and the warm weather. This week we have talked about how God blessed us with a wonderful family.
These past 2 weeks we have talked about classroom safety and rules. We have also been focusing on good choices and poor choices that we can make in the classroom and how to be a good friend by using words and sharing.
On our focus wall we are learning the letter Ll, color red, shape circle, and the number 2.
Tuesday- Writing Center: We did our phonics page. Large motor: We practiced running and climbing.
Wednesday- Writing Center: Built the letter Ll with linking blocks. Art: Finger painted
Thursday- Writing Center: Used stickers to spell our name. STEM: Painted a nature wind chime with pine cones and sticks.
Friday- Writing Center: Learn how to use white glue. Dot Dot Not Alot. Show-N-Share Day.
At the activity center we are sorting pom poms with tongs, Shape puzzle game, building the letter Ll with magnets and writing it in gel bags, and coloring sheets.
Bible lesson this week is Creation. Our bible verse we are learning is Let the little children come to me Mark 10:14.
PRESCHOOL (4): Mrs. Dragt
Welcome back to school! Hope you all had a fantastic summer!
This week we are taking it slow trying to get back into the swing of things. We are working on how to properly use all our fun supplies we have at school! We worked on water coloring, using a scissor and glue bottle. It's tricky to open them glue bottles! 😊
We also are working on our prewriting skills. Getting those diagonals, curved and straight lines down so we can master those letters and numbers.
It is family so of course our show and share this week is to bring in a family photo, we are all excited to see them!
We also are learning about our different emotions by playing feeling hop and singing the song Feelings Pokey.
Our Jesus story is: God Created the World!
Memory Treasure God created the heavens and earth Genesis 1:1
Kindergarten: Mrs. Eckstrand
This week has gone by soooo fast 😊 In Bible, we have learned that God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th day. We also learned that everything including Adam and Eve were perfect. This week we learned that the Devil, in the form of a snake, lied to Eve and Eve and Adam sinned by eating the wrong fruit. Yet, God promised to send a Savior to save Adam and Eve and ALL of us! John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. We learn a memory treasure every week and say it on Friday by ourselves to earn a sticker.
In Reading we are learning how to follow directions, as well as remembering our letters and sounds. We also met Ms. Lim who teaches our Superkids in Kindergarten. In Math, we are reviewing our numbers from 1-20.
We have started our Church song and hymn, so if you hear a different version of "I am Jesus' little lamb” THAT’S OK, it is the same words with a different melody.
1-2nd: Mrs. Markgraf
Greetings from 1st and 2nd grade!
We are off to a great start. We've been working hard on establishing routines, procedures and expectations. We've also been growing our class family by getting to know each other and creating a classroom contract. Ask your student how they can prevent their mouth from becoming a "volcano" or catching a case of "Tattle Tongue."
This week will start our first Memory Treasure of the school year. By Friday students should be able to say these passages with little help. To go along with our Bible stories of the first sin and Cain and Abel we are focusing on Romans 3:23, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
We are looking forward to getting more into our reading and math textbooks as the week goes on.
3-5th: Mrs. Horn
Hello Parents, Students, and Families,
"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." In grades 3-5, we begin every morning with this reminder. God is good!
This week in Christ Light, we are studying the story of creation and how God used His Word and almighty power to create the world and everything in it.
In Math, all grades are learning place values and numbers to 10,000, 100,000, and 1,000,000. We are representing these numbers in various ways.
In Language Arts, we are learning about autobiographies. Each student will write their own autobiography book.
In Social Studies, we are beginning a unit on U.S. regions, states, and capitals.
In Science, we are starting a unit on living things. We will be able to see God's creation at work. 😊
In Art, we are using many patterns and designs to create fun Name Art!
Reminders:
Memory Work passages this week are Genesis 1:1 and Psalm 139:14. Please practice and review these with your child at home. They will say it to a teacher by Friday.
The first spelling test is on Friday. I will send the list home with your child. Please practice and review these words with your child at home as well.
Blessings on your week!
