Last week and this week we've have 3 Bible lessons. Last week we learned that Joshua leads the Israelites in defeating Jericho and enter into the Promised Land. Then we heard about Hannah, Eli, and Samuel, who was called special by God to lead the Israelites as their new priest after Eli. Finally, we met David, who took on Goliath, and only with the Lord's help was able to defeat him with his slingshot and a smooth stone from the river. David would then become the second King of Israel. Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right is our Memory treasure.
In Reading, we met Tamika, who is helping us with our /t/ sound as well as our ending sounds.
In Math, we are investigating SOLID (3D) shapes. We are reviewing all of the flat shapes that make the solid shapes too.
In Writing, we are writing a Christmas book and working on our dates.
In Social Studies we are learning why rules help a community.
We are singing carols in music to get us ready for Christmas caroling.

Wow, December is already here!
This week in math first graders are learning strategies to subtract from numbers up to 20. Second graders are very excited to be learning about multiplication like the big kids.
In reading the first graders are learning the digraph ch as in the word chick. Second graders are learning about "bossy r" also known as r-controlled vowels were the r takes over the vowel sound such as in the word’s car, corn, letter, bird and turtle.
Just like scientists we made predictions and tested how many water drops of water would fit on the face of a penny.
Our Bible stories are following Moses and the people of Isreal on their exodus from Egypt. Our Memory Treasure comes from John 1:29b, Look! The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
God's blessings to you all during this Advent season.
3-5th: Mrs. Horn
Hello Parents, Students, Family, and Friends--
Welcome back from break! I pray you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving break with family and friends. It's always a joy to remember and thank God for all the blessings he gives us on Thanksgiving and every day.
This week, we are jumping right back into where we left off with things.
In Christ Light, we continue reading and learning about Moses and the Israelites. We learned about the tenth plague, The Passover. We also learn about the crossing at the Red Sea and how God saved the Israelites from the Egyptians.
In Math, 3rd grade is continuing multiplication with multi-digit numbers. 4th grade is working on fractions. 5th grade is adding and subtracting decimals.
In Reading, we are continuing our novel The Wild Robot. As we read, we are discussing comprehension questions and talking about different themes.
In Social Studies, we are learning about the West region of the United States. Once we finish all the regions, we will review and know all the states and capitals of our country!
Here is just another quick reminder that book reports are due on Friday! I love hearing everyone talk about their plans on what to do. It's fun to see all the creativity come together in one big project. Thanks for your help and support at home! Have a great rest of your week!
