At the science table we are sorting the rocks and sea shells and weighting them. Our science experiments this week are seeing that the fastest way is to melt ice and how to stick ice cubes to yarn. We are also planning on painting with snow and ice. Also, throughout the week we are learning what makes something a solid and what makes something a liquid.Â

Memory Treasure: LORD, I love your house. Psalm 26:8
Â
Kindergarten: Mrs. Eckstrand
This week we have 2 Bible lessons. First, God kept Jesus safe as a child when King Herod wanted to kill him. An angel sent a message to Joseph in a dream. Joseph, Mary, and Jesus fled to Egypt and lived there till Herod died. Then we jumped ahead to Jesus as a 12-year-old. He goes with his parents to the temple in Jerusalem for the first time. There we see that his parents "lost" him. But we learn he wasn't lost, he was simply in his Father’s house, teaching the teachers. He reminded Mary and Joseph that this is the true reason he came. Psalm 91:11 Yes, he will give a command to his angels, concerning you, to guard you in all your ways is our memory treasure this week. Â
In Math, we will move on from height and length and move to measuring weight and capacity.
In Reading, we enjoyed Nature with Nina, and will get to meet Golly, the Garbage loving, smelling dog. Â
In Social studies, we are voting and learning more about how the government works. Â
In Science, we are looking at living and nonliving things.
1-2nd: Mrs. Markgraf
This week a big focus is showing what we've learned this year through our MAP computer tests. This is just one measure we use to assess student progress. Each student has also had a chance to read to me to check in with reading fluency. In reading class first graders are very excited to unlock "Super e". This is what we call a silent e that makes the vowel say its long sound. Second graders will be thinking about the sounds that "oo" and "ew" make.Â
In math 1st grade is starting a new chapter about length. Second grade is continuing to study multiplication and division facts including tens.
Our Bible lessons taught us about why the Israelites had to wander in the desert for 40 years. We learn to trust God and not ourselves. Our Memory treasure is Romans 6:23, The wages of sin is death, but the undeserved gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. We are proud that we can learn such a long and important passage. May God bless your week!

3-5th: Mrs. Horn
Happy Wednesday Parents, Students, and Families!
This week, we have been completing the winter session of MAP testing. Students are focusing and working hard to do their best on these tests.Â
In Christ Light, we see how some of the Israelites rebelled against God in different ways and how God punished them for their rebellion. In our last lesson of the week, we are studying the story of the Bronze Snake, which is what the Israelites looked to when they sinned. This reminds us of Jesus who was hung on the cross for our sins.Â
In Math, 3rd graders are working on the multiplication table. 4th graders are continuing to multiply whole numbers and fractions. 5th graders are starting to learn about dividing with decimals.
In Language Arts, each grade is continuing in their grammar workbooks. We are all learning new parts of speech and parts of a sentence.Â
In Science, we are learning about erosion, weathering, and different types of rocks.
Have a great rest of your week!
