PTF MEETING
Our next PTF meeting is Monday, April 13th at 6:30. We will be discussing the yearbook, fundraiser follow-up, and end of year activities. All are welcome to attend!
KID PRINT – FINGER PRINTING
On April 13th, Immanuel Grace Lutheran School, the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hutchinson Police Department will be offering K, 6th grade, and new students an opportunity to participate in the McLeod County Child Print Program.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Do you play an instrument outside of school? Would you like to showcase your skill? Let Mrs. Eckstrand know and we will include you in the Spring Play night musical selections on Friday, April 17th.
K-5 MUSIC & 6-8 SPRING PLAY
Friday, April 17th: K-5th will be performing musical numbers starting at 5:30, students should be to the church basement by 5:15. This will be about 30 minutes.
6-8th will begin their play Wizard of Oz: The Deleted Scene at 6:30, please have students to the church basement by 6:15 so they can get into costume and help set up.
MLC SPRING PLAY – THE BFG
Thursday, April 30th K-8th grade will go to Martin Luther College for the spring play. We will need a couple parent chaperones which will be placed where they are needed.
6-8th COED SOFTBALL
We will be participating in the Coed-Softball tournament our WELS schools do each year.
STARTING TUESDAY, APRIL 28th: Students will practice Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:15-4:30 until the tournament.
They should bring a glove, water bottle, tennis shoes (or cleats if they own them), and clothing suitable for running.
April VonBerge will be coaching.
Softball tournament is on Wednesday, May 13th in North Mankato.
We will need parent volunteer drivers, if you’d like to chaperone, please let us know as soon as possible; this will be an all-day event.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES SIGN-UP
Preschool & Prekindergarten will be April 20-23rd. It is very important that the parents and teachers feel free to openly discuss any concerns or questions concerning the child’s education. At least one parent is expected to come to these meetings to discuss the progress of their child. At times during the year, the teacher may request a special conference with the parents, just as the parents may request a conference with the teacher.
PRESCHOOL (3): Miss Lokensgard
It's April and we are in full swing into spring. This week we are learning about baby animals and their habitats. We are also focusing on things that are the same and different. Our dramatic play is set up as an animal vet shop and our science table stacking blocks to balance frogs on top. Our playdough table has little people animals to make a playdough house for them. This week we are also learning about the letter Nn, the shape diamond, number 9, and the color purple.
Tuesday- Writing Center: We are practicing writing our name by erasing it with a Q-Tip. Activity Center: cutting out animals and gluing them to the same animal.
Wednesday- Writing Center: Learning how to draw a sun for our scribble scrabble lesson. Activity Center: Making rainbow animals with markers and eye droppers.
Thursday- Writing Center: Phonics page of the letter Nn. Activity Center: Making a palm branch for our bible story.
Friday- Writing Center: Making the letter 9 book. Activity Center: Hi Ho Cherrio game.
Bible story this week we are learning is Blessed be the King. When Jesus arrives in Jerusalem on a donkey. Our memory treasure is Jesus came…to save sinners 1 Timothy 1:15.

Monday - Hope you all enjoyed your Easter Break! He has risen! He has risen indeed!
Tuesday - We worked on making the big number 20. Show and share was to bring something in
that starts with the first letter of your last name.
Wednesday - In our STEM activity, we made harmonicas out of popsicle sticks, rubber bands,
and straws! We also worked on our teen numbers and corresponding counting by making
caterpillars with paint and our fingers!
Thursday - We worked on making the letter Mm. During movement, we played
follow-the-leader with Ms. Lokensgard’s class.
Friday - In art, we are going to make windsocks out of paper and party streamers.
Our Jesus story is Jesus is Alive. Memory Treasure ...he has risen, just as he said. Matthew 28:6
KINDERGARTEN: Mrs. Eckstrand
This week our Bible lesson is "the Empty Tomb”. We are celebrating Jesus' resurrection and how a lot of his followers learned about it. The memory treasure this week is John 11:25 Jesus said to her 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live even though he dies.’
In Reading, we have finally met ALL the superkids! We now get to enjoy them as part of "US" as we form the superkids club. We will have lots of adventures with them as we continue the year.
In Math, we have begun number bonds and adding.
In Science, we will be talking about eggs and ducklings... 😊
Our songs and instruments are coming along for our Musical night. We keep working hard on making it all go well and smooth.

Jesus is risen! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebration. We can carry Easter joy into every day of the year.
We are busy in first and second grade. In reading the first graders are focusing on words that end in "le." Second graders are learning new ways to make the long e sound.
In math second graders are growing in their knowledge of fractions. First graders are learning strategies for adding numbers up to 100.
Our Bible stories include David Sins, Absalom Sins Against David and Solomon's Wisdom. We see that God forgives even when proper honor is not shown. Our Memory Treasure is Matthew 26:41, Watch and pray, so that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Our students are working hard to prepare for their concert next week Friday at 5:30. Our class will be singing two songs and performing on the bucket drums. Please join us if you are able!

This week in Christ Light, we are learning about King Solomon and how he ruled over the nation of Israel. We’ll hear about other leaders of Israel soon, too.
In Math, 3rd grade is finishing up a chapter about circles, quadrilaterals, and angles. 4th grade is continuing the chapter on adding and subtracting decimals. 5th grade is starting a new chapter about adding and subtracting mixed numbers.
In Language Arts, we are continuing units on adjectives and nouns.
In Reading, we are reading “The War that Saved My Life.” This book continues to offer great discussion about historical events, predictions, vocabulary, and more. Students are showing their comprehension and understanding through different activities.
In Science, we are studying the sun, shadows, and seasons.
In Music, we are working hard to learn our songs and instruments for our big spring performance next week! We hope to see you there!

Hello Parents, Family and Friends,
This week:
Grammar we are reviewing different sections that we have covered throughout the year.
Reading, we will be reading Robinson Crusoe. This is a more challenging book. We will be taking it slowly and focusing on understanding harder to read sections. We will be working with different strategies to find the meaning of sections that contain unfamiliar words.
6th Grade math is working with different units of measurement.
7th Grade math is working on geometric figures.
8th Grade math is working with polynomials.
In Science, we are working with simple machines.
In History, we are studying the U.S. - Dakota War of 1862.
