Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room

This week our Jesus story is "Jesus remember me". We learned that while Jesus was dying on the cross one of the criminals with him asked Jesus to remember him in paradise. Jesus told the criminal "Today he would be with Jesus in Paradise". Jesus chose to stay on the cross and die for the sins of the whole world! He did not take the easy way out. JESUS CHOSE YOU, to live with him in paradise! "Jesus remember me, when you come into your kingdom" is our memory treasure this week.

We are taking to the stage this week and next week, lots of moving and walking, and excitement.

We are fingerprinting for art this week.

In science, we talked about our sense of taste.

This week we will get to learn about Big Ben that we missed last week.

Preschool: It's filling out letter and number review time. We've got new games to learn and play that boost our reading and math skills.

Kindergarten: We've started money in Math. We have found out that we are part of the superkids "Us" because we are super readers!

Mrs. Utsch’s Room

In 1st grade Math we practiced two-digit addition and subtraction. In Reading we read and spelled words with all.

In 2nd grade Math we practiced three-digit addition and subtraction. In Reading class, we read words with w and wh, and wrote words using the prefix mis- and dis-.

In 3rd grade Math we compared fractions with the same numerator and denominator, and different denominator. In Reading we are reading the novel “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate.

In Religion we heard how a king punished some guests for rejecting his invitation and one guest for not wearing the special wedding robe. Jesus warned us not to reject God’s gift of heaven by turning away from him as our Savior. Through faith we gladly accept the forgiveness Jesus earned for us so that we can go to heaven. Jesus gave the Lord’s Supper to his disciples to remind them of his suffering and death and to give them forgiveness of sins. Believers who take the Lord’s Supper receive forgiveness of sins.

Mr. Gephart’s Room

Hi Parents, Family, and Friends,

Here is a look into the classroom this week.

In Reading, the 4th-5th graders are reading “Old Yeller”. How does a dog play a big part of a boy’s life? The 6th-8th graders are reading “The Boy in the Stripe Pajamas”. It is a WWII story about a German boy befriending a Jewish boy in a prison camp.

In Grammar this week we are learning about adverbs and pronouns.

In Math, the 4th graders are learning about fractions. The 5th graders are learning how to multiply and divide fractions. The 6th graders are learning about area and volume. The 7th graders are learning about volume. The 8th graders are working with radical expressions. Square roots are their favorite.

In Geography we are studying Eastern Europe.

In History, the upper graders are studying ancient civilizations. We are currently learning about the Middle Ages. The lower graders are learning about the start of the United States. We are studying what happened at the of the Revolutionary War.

In Writing, we are working on our personal narrative.

We welcome Kylie Wolf, a senior student teacher from MLC into my classroom for the next 6 weeks.
