K-8th Grade: MLC PLAY

On Thursday, May 1st the K-8th grade will attend the MLC Children’s Theatre production of Once Upon a Crime: The Trial of Goldilocks.

K-8 Students must bring a cold lunch. Preschool is having pizza.


EARLY RELEASE DAY

Our next Early Release Day is Wednesday, May 7th.

School will be dismissed at 1:00.

Bussing will still be available as well as Latchkey - If you aren’t already signed up to attend latchkey and will need after school care, please contact the school at 320-587-4858 or immanuellutheranschool@hotmail.com


PRESCHOOL: Litchfield Park

Both preschool classrooms will be visiting Piepenburg park on May 7th from 9:30 to 11:30.


5-8th Grade: TRACK MEET

We still need volunteer drivers / chaperones for our upcoming Track Meet in Sleepy Eye on Friday, May 9th. This is an all-day meet; parents will be required to help with events. Typically, we leave before school starts and may return after school ends as some of the last events can be done around 1-2:00.

Please let us know if you'd be interested in driving and how many students you can fit in your vehicle.


PTF MEETING

Our next PTF meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 12th at 6:30. All are welcome to attend! We will be discussing the end of year dance as well as upcoming summer events.


K-5th Grade: SCIENCE MUSEUM

On Tuesday, May 13th the Kindergarten through 5th grade will be taking a field trip to the Science Museum. Students should pack a cold lunch for the day.


6-8TH Grade: COED SOFTBALL

We still need volunteer drivers / chaperones for our upcoming softball tournament in North Mankato on Tuesday, May 13th. This is an all-day event.

Please let us know if you'd be interested in driving and how many students you can fit in your vehicle.

STARTING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30th: Students will practice most Mondays and Wednesdays each week after school from 3:15-4:30 until the tournament.

They should bring a glove, water bottle, tennis shoes (or cleats if they own them), and clothing suitable for running.


GRADUATIONS & CLOSING SERVICE

PRESCHOOL: Friday, May 16th pictures from 5-5:15 with graduation starting at 5:15 in Immanuel Lutheran Church.

CLOSING SERVICE & GRADUATION:

All are encouraged to attend!

Thursday, May 22nd at 6:30 will be our closing service for the school year as well as graduation for K and 8th grade and any awards or certificates will be handed out at Immanuel Lutheran Church.


PRESCHOOL: Litchfield Park

Both preschool classrooms will be visiting the Litchfield Park/playground on May 21st from 9:30 to 11:30.


LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

Is Friday, May 23rd!

This will be a full day of school.

Our annual end of the year dance will be held at school from 6:00 – 8:00 on Friday, May 23rd.

Please bring a snack or beverage to share. There will be games/prizes and dancing for all ages!

This is not a teacher supervised event; there must be adults present responsible for their child/ren.


PRESCHOOL (3): Miss Lokensgard

It's bird week!! We enjoy comparing the differences between all kinds of birds. We are learning that all birds lay eggs, they all have feathers, and all have legs, eyes, and wings. Some birds are big and some are small. Some birds can't even fly at all. We are also focusing on more than and less than. At the activity center this week we are practicing number 10 frames, finding the birds game, matching the letters with upper- and lower-case blocks, bird patterns, and more than and less than game.

Monday- Writing Center: Phonics page. Large Group: Art, making a bird with paint and feathers.

Tuesday- Writing Center: Practicing writing the letter Xx on a chalkboard. Large Group: Show-N-Share.

Wednesday- Writing Center: Name worksheet. Large Group: Stickers of Jesus Resurrection.

Thursday- Writing Center: Scribble Scrabble lesson, learning how to draw a butterfly. Large Group: Preschool work out class.

Friday- Making a bird feeder.

The Bible story is the first Easter. Memory treasure: He has risen, just as he said. Matthew 28:6.


PRESCHOOL (4): Mrs. Dragt

Welcome to bird week!

Monday- We worked on making our letter Dd books. We also learned the life cycle of a flower and then planted some flower seeds. We are excited to watch them grow!

Tuesday- We walked around the classroom and played write the room, and worked on writing our numbers 1-20. Show and share was to draw a picture of your favorite animal.

Wednesday- In Science we made some binoculars out of toilet paper rolls and went on a bird watch/hike to see how many birds we could find!

Thursday- In our large motor activity, we had a preschool workout class. In our small group, we worked on making the number 10.

Friday- In Art, we made bird feeders out of popsicle sticks and peanut butter. We also had a bubble party for making another monster for good behavior!

Our Jesus story this week is Jesus Makes Breakfast. Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19


K-1st: Mrs. Eckstrand

This week are Bible lessons were Jesus' Ascension and Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came to the disciples. We learned that Jesus promises to be with us always even if we can't see or touch him. We also learned that we have an important job to go and tell the good news of Jesus to all the world. Mattew 28:20b and surely I am with you always until the end of the age.

In Reading, 1st grade is looking at contractions. In their reading selection, they are learning how to help a friend who gets upset. Kindergarten is going on a picnic with Oswald and the sound /p/. We are also reading selections to help us find information in the story, like our favorite parts.

In Math, 1st grade just keeps getting bigger with their numbers and will begin addition and subtraction using 2-digit numbers. Kindergarten is learning how subtraction and addition are related in a number family, as well as improving their skills.

In Science we looked at why we have day and night, as well as fun moon facts.

In social studies we will travel back in time to when America was discovered.

In writing, 1st grade is working with prompts to increase their "why" reasons. Kindergarten is working on making one word in sentences.


2-4th: Mr. Loersch

Hello Parents and Students!

In God's Word this week, we're diving into the Easter story as we learn how people felt before and after Jesus rose from the dead. We'll see the different reactions of the Roman guards, the Jewish leaders, and the followers of Jesus.

In Language Arts, 2nd graders are reviewing long vowel sounds in different contexts. 3-4th graders continue their Lit Circles with Winn-Dixie.

In Math, 2nd graders continue to work with money. 3rd graders continue their fraction unit. 4th graders continue their work with measurement.

In Social Studies we're continuing to learn about navigation. We're applying our knowledge by finding geocaches on the Immanuel-Grace property. We're also creating our own geocaches for others to find.

Book reports are due THIS FRIDAY!!! If you need a rubric sheet for a project shared with you virtually, please send me an email.


5-8th: Mr. Holz

Hello Parents, Family and Friends

In Math, 5th Graders are working with dividing fractions. 6th Graders are working on finding volume of different figures. 7th Graders are working with area and volume. 8th Graders are working with different operations involving radicals.

In Science, we will be studying how ocean currents affect parts of the world thousands of miles away.

In History, we will be finishing Japanese history by covering the Samurai.

In Music, we are moving into reading music and how to count songs that you have not seen before.

In Grammar, 5th-6th are working on punctuation. 7th-8th are working through hyphens, underlining, and apostrophes.

In Reading, we are working through how to read poems and identify key poetic elements such as tone, diction, rhyme, and meter. We will be finishing by working on writing our own poems.

In Spelling, we are working on the 28th lesson. The spelling tests are every Friday.

This week we are MAP testing for the final time this year.
