Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room

This week our Jesus story is "Christ is Risen". We learned that Jesus did not stay dead. He conquered death and the Devil when he rose from the grave. Because Jesus lives, we too will live with him in Heaven. Our Memory Treasure is "He has risen, just as he said" Matthew 28:6.

In Social Studies we are flying to Nashville to visit the sights the city has to offer.

Preschool: We are applying all our number and letter knowledge to the games, and we will have a picture appear as we color by number.

Kindergarten: In Math we are continuing money and identifying each coin and how much its worth. In Reading we are finishing up "Us" as we read more and more.

Monday, April 17th students will have a short groundbreaking event – if you aren’t already scheduled for this day, please let Mrs. Eckstrand know you’d like to add the day to your calendar.

Mrs. Utsch’s Room

In 1st grade Math we identified 3-dimensional shapes, combined 3-D shapes to make new shapes, and described 2-D and 3-D characteristics of shapes. In Reading we read and spelled words with the aw spelling pattern, used the conjunctions and and because in sentences, and used adjectives in sentences.

In 2nd grade Math measured the length of objects to the nearest inch and foot and measured the length of objects and then recorded the data in a line plot. In Reading class, we read compound words and distinguished between singular and plural pronouns.

In 3rd grade Math we identified, made, and wrote, equivalent fractions and compared fractions. In Reading we are reading the novel “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate.

In Religion we heard how Jesus suffered and died to forgive all who turn against him. We thank Jesus for forgiving the times we have turned against him and ask for help to stand up for him. Our other Bible lesson was how Peter sinned by saying that he did not know Jesus. God can help us with any danger or temptation.

Mr. Gephart’s Room

Hi Parents, Family, and Friends,

Here is a look into the classroom this week.

In Reading, the 4th-5th graders are reading “Old Yeller”. How does a dog play a big part of a boy’s life? The 6th-8th graders finished reading “The Boy in the Stripe Pajamas” and will start a unit on Poetry.

In Grammar this week we are learning about pronouns and capitalization.

In Math, the 4th graders are relating fraction, decimals, and percents. The 5th graders are learning about ratios, proportions, and percents. The 6th graders are learning about area, volume, and surface area. The 7th graders are learning about volume and surface area. The 8th graders are working with radical expressions. Square roots are their favorite.

In Geography we are studying Eastern Europe. We have been working on a group project and we will be presenting them this week and next.

In History, the upper graders are studying ancient civilizations. We are currently learning about the Middle Ages and the Crusades. The lower graders are learning about the start of the United States. We are studying our government.

In Writing, we are working on our personal narrative.

We welcome Kylie Wolf, a senior student teacher from MLC into my classroom for the next 6 weeks.
