Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room

This week our Jesus story is "Jesus washes his disciples’ feet". We learned that Jesus is our best example of treating others with Kindness and love. He shows us how to do it. We also learned that just as our bodies need washing from dirt. Jesus washes our Hearts clean from sin. "As I have loved you, so you must love one another" John 13:34 is our memory treasure this week.

In Science we identified smells and if we thought we'd eat the food or not.

In social studies we are traveling to Big Ben in London.

In Art we are finger painting!

Our movement this week is adding the actions and props to our songs for parents.

Preschool: Our final letter of the week is Mm for monkey, M & M, Mom, moon, moose, and mouse. Our number review is 3, and 13, as well as 26.

Kindergarten: In Reading we met our final super kid Hot Rod; he's building and racing fast cars. We are also looking at more memory words and digraphs found at the beginning of words.

Mrs. Utsch’s Room

In 1st grade Math we used place value to add and subtract two-digit numbers from two-digit numbers. In Reading we recognized words with long-vowel trickers and used synonyms in sentences.

In 2nd grade Math we subtracted three-digit numbers with and without regrouping. In Reading class, we learned irregular plurals and encoded words with open-syllable vowel patterns.

In 3rd grade Math we partitioned shapes into equal areas and used unit fractions to describe area. In Reading we are reading the novel “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate.

In Religion we heard how Jesus was pleased because a widow loved God and wanted to give him the best offering she could. God loves us and blesses us with all that we have. We thank God for his love by giving him the best offering we have. Jesus told a parable to warn his enemies that those who rejected him as their Savior would suffer the punishment of hell. God wants us to hear his Word often and never reject its saving message.

Mr. Gephart’s Room

Hi Parents, Family, and Friends,

Here is a look into the classroom this week.

In Reading, the 4th-5th graders are reading “Old Yeller”. How does a dog play a big part of a boy’s life? The 6th-8th graders are reading “The Boy in the Stripe Pajamas”. It is a WWII story about a German boy befriending a Jewish boy in a prison camp.

In Grammar this week we are learning about adverbs and pronouns.

In Math, the 4th graders are learning about fractions. The 5th graders are learning how to multiply and divide fractions. The 6th graders are learning the different measuring units and conversion factors. The 7th graders are learning about perimeter and area. The 8th graders are working with radical expressions. Square roots are their favorite.

In Geography we are studying Eastern Europe.

In History, the upper graders are studying ancient civilizations. We are currently learning about the Middle Ages. The lower graders are learning about the start of the United States. We are studying what happened at the of the Revolutionary War.

In Writing, we are writing an essay and giving 2 good reasons and 1 bad for that topic.

This week we welcome a Kylie Wolf, a senior student teacher from MLC into my classroom for the next 6 weeks.
