Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room

This week our Jesus story is "Blessed is the King". We learned about Palm Sunday, and Jesus entering into Jerusalem. We also learned that he is the King of our hearts. Our Memory treasure is "Hosanna in the highest." Matthew 21:9

In Movement, we are "learning" to Irish Dance.

We have started to really dive into our songs for the Spring play day.

Preschool: We are reviewing all our numbers from 1-20. We are finishing up our Alphabet. We are beginning to investigate other letter and math concepts.

Kindergarten: We are playing educational games with Ettabetta. In Math, we are starting to add the correct symbols to our addition bonds we've been creating.

Mrs. Utsch’s Room

In 1st grade Math we added and subtracted multiples of ten and added with tens and ones. In Reading we identified final y words with -er and -est endings, reviewed ai and ay words, and used comparative and superlative adjectives in sentences.

In 2nd grade Math we solved addition and subtraction word problems and solved multi-step addition and subtraction word problems. In reading class, we read words with the long e spelling pattern -ey, ie, and -ine and used the conjunctions and, but, or or in sentences.

In 3rd grade Math we identified, drew, and named fractions as equal parts of a whole or a group, represented and named fractions on a number line, and expressed whole numbers as fractions. In Reading we are reading the novel “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine Applegate.

In Religion we heard how Jesus willingly rode into Jerusalem and was honored by the people as their Savior and King. Jesus is our Savior and King and we also show him honor and give him praise. We also heard a parable that Jesus told. The parable was about a master who was pleased with his servants who faithfully used their talents. God gives us different talents and out of love for God we faithfully use our talents to serve him.

Mr. Gephart’s Room

Hi Parents, Family, and Friends,

Here is a look into the classroom this week.

In Reading, the 4th-5th graders are reading “Old Yeller”. How does a dog play a big part of a boy’s life? The 6th-8th graders are reading “The Boy in the Stripe Pajamas”. It is a WWII story about a German boy befriending a Jewish boy in a prison camp.

In Grammar this week we are learning about adverbs and pronouns.

In Math, the 4th graders are learning about factors and multiples. The 5th graders are learning about adding and subtracting fractions. The 6th graders are learning the different measuring units and conversion factors. The 7th graders are starting the basics of Geometry. The 8th graders are solving polynomials by graphing and using the quadratic equation.

In Geography we are studying Scandinavia and the British Isles.

In History, the upper graders are studying ancient civilizations. We are currently learning about ancient Japan. The lower graders are learning about the start of the United States. We are studying the beginnings of the Revolutionary War.

In Writing, we are writing an essay and giving 2 good reasons and 1 bad for that topic.
