PRESCHOOL (3): Miss Lokensgard
The preschoolers are learning about our 5 senses this week. During circle time we are writing a list to think of different things that make us use our senses. Our wow word this week is Unique- God made us all unique (different) with our 5 senses.
Monday: Sound- we had sound jars that I filled with different objects to see if we could guess what the sound was. We learned that sounds can be loud and soft.
Tuesday: Smell- We had smell jars that were covered to see if we can guess what the smell is. We learned that some smells are strong and some are weak smells.
Wednesday: Touch- We are putting our hands in a covered box to try to guess what the object is by just using our hands. We are learning that surfaces are smooth and some are rough. We used our sense of touch to write in shaving cream.
Thursday: Sight- We will learn that some objects are bright and some are dim. We can use lights to help our eyes see better. We will use glitter glue to write on lines at the writing center.
Friday: Taste- We will taste test some limes and oranges to compare that some fruits are sweet and some are sour. We will also do a popcorn taste test. When we pop the popcorn, we- see it, hear it, smell it, touch it, and taste it. Yummy!!
At the activity center this week we are counting dots on the matching popsicle puzzles, shape game, and categorizing the different senses. We have smelly markers at the writing center this week and practicing our scissor skills with playdough. On Thursday we are making a hot cocoa powder art activity with marshmallows and show-N-share is on Friday.
Our bible lesson this week is “Jesus heals a little girl”. Memory treasurer: Give thanks to the Lord for he is good. Psalm 118:1

Our focus wall this week is the letter Zz, number 2, our shape is a pentagon, and our color is purple. 5 Senses Week! Throughout the week we are reading I hear a pickle (and smell, see, touch, and taste it too!)
Monday- (Hear) We watched a “Guess the sound” video! The kids loved it and they did a great job. They did better than me some times!
Tuesday- (See) We did an I Spy sheet and we found the letter of the week. We played I Spy around the room.
Wednesday-(Smell) We are going to play guess the smell. I have containers and they will guess what is inside.
Thursday- (Touch) We will be sticking our hands in a mystery box and feeling and guessing what’s inside.
Friday- (Taste) We will be making popcorn and using all 5 of our senses.

Hello Parents and Students!
In God's Word this week, we're learning about three stories. In our first story, we'll get priorities check with The Rich Ruler and Jesus. In the second story, we will witness the incredible power of Jesus as he raises his friend Lazarus from the dead. In our final lesson for the week, we'll learn how Zaccheus knew he was a sinner and trusted in Jesus alone for salvation.
2nd-grade math continues their dive into multiplication facts of 2,5 and 10. 3rd grade math continues our unit on division. 4th graders are keeping it moving with fractions.
In Language Arts, 2-4 are selecting and practicing reading Dr. Seuss books aloud. During CEW, we will go into the preschool classrooms and read our books to them. We are also continuing with normally scheduled Superkids and Grammar.
In P.E. we are practicing underhand throwing for our beanbag and bowling unit. I am looking to borrow cornhole sets! If we could have six sets at school, that would be the perfect number. Right now, we have one. If you'd be willing to let our class borrow your boards and bags for a couple of weeks, please let me know! Thank you!
