Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room
This week our Jesus lesson is “Jesus is born!”. Our Memory Treasure is “Today… a Savior has been born”. We rejoice that Jesus came to save the world. We understand how humble He needed to be to be born as a baby and placed in a manger. What amazing love!
In Art we are working on our “secret” Christmas gifts.
For Movement we are still working on balance and jumping with hopscotch as well as hand eye coordination while dribbling.
Science had us learning all about gravitational force.
In Social Studies we will begin to travel the U.S. and check out monuments and places to visit.
Please remember to send shoes with your children. We don’t like wearing wet snowy boots into the classroom.
Preschool: Our letter this week is Ee for Easton, and egg, and elephant. We learned a new alphabet dance called “ABC Kickbox”. Our number is a review of 9. Circle then a line makes a fine number 9.
Kindergarten: In Reading we will finish up Sal and all his sports. Then another Superkid comes to visit! Sight words went home in bookbags. Please practice them with your children every day. They should be able to just see the word and read it. In Math we are practicing naming and drawing flat and 3D shapes.
Mrs. Utsch’s Room
In 1st grade Math we are solving addition and subtraction problems using manipulatives and drawing pictures. In Reading we are associating long vowel sounds with the CVCe pattern and read the story “Kites”.
In 2nd grade Math we are solving 2-digit addition and subtraction problems with and without regrouping. In Reading we read words with the long -oo and short -oo spelling pattern, identified meanings of homonyms, used quotation marks in sentences and identified and used compound words.
In 3rd grade Math we solved 2-step problems, identified number patterns on an addition table, and used mental math strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems. In Reading we are reading “Ramona Quimby, Age 8” by Beverly Cleary.
In Religion we learned how Pharaoh refused to obey God. God wants us to listen to those who teach his Word. We heard about how Pharaoh ignored God’s command and almighty power. Faith in God leads people to gladly obey his commands.
Our classroom Christmas Party is Friday, December 17th. Please have a boy bring a boy gift and a girl bring a girl gift. A note was sent home with more details. Please contact me if you have further questions.
Mr. Gephart’s Room

In History the upper graders are learning about World War 1. The lower graders are learning about MN History. They are learning about the flower, lumber, and iron industry.
