GIFT CARDS – RAISE RIGHT

This program is great for Christmas gifts! If you are planning on gifting money this Christmas, please order gift cards through this program. The deadline in order to receive them before Christmas is Sunday, December 11th. Scrip is a great way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards and the school receives money back to put towards field trips and activities.

PTF MEETING

Monday, December 12th is our next meeting at 6:30, all are welcome to attend! We will be voting on positions and discussing our next activities/fundraisers.

NURSE VISIT

The school nurse will be in on Thursday, December 8th to do any rescreens as well as a Hand Washing Demonstration for the Kindergarten classroom.

IMMANUEL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Practice is underway for the kids Christmas program at Immanuel Lutheran Church. If you are a member of the church your child can participate. Practices are each Saturday from 9:00-11:00, scripts have been handed out so please practice your lines and songs!

CHRITMAS BREAK

Wednesday, December 21st is early dismissal at 12:30. There is no bussing as this doesn’t coincide with the public-school schedule. There will also be no afternoon Latchkey.

The children will have their classroom Christmas parties along with a pizza lunch!!

We do not have school from December 22nd through January 3rd with classes resuming on January 4th– this is also a 10:00 start and parent drive MORNING.

If before school care (Latchkey) is needed this day, please let us as soon as possible so we can schedule caregivers.

Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room

This week our Jesus story is the Savior is Born. We learned how Jesus humbled himself to be born as a baby in a stable. The savior that's been long awaited finally arrived in Bethlehem. "Today...a Savior has been born" is our memory treasure this week.

In Social Studies this week we will tour Oberg and Leveaux mountain right here in MN. Ready to hike?

In Movement we continue working on our soccer skills. This week we're dribbling to friends and trying to steal the balls away using only our feet.

Our "secret art" is coming together nicely.

Our tree is up, so if you'd like one more thing out of the house, we have a place for our book exchanges. As able please purchase a preschool-1st grade level book, wrap it and write who it’s from. We’ll exchange them at the Christmas party.

Preschool: 14 is our number this week. “Long line down, jump back up, down and over down once more 14, lions roar!” Our letter this week is Rr for rabbit, radish, red, rainbow, and race car.

Kindergarten: We took Ch. 4 math test this week, and began Ch. 5 all about measuring and comparing. In Reading we waved goodbye to Sal and will begin activities and games with Lily.

Mrs. Utsch’s Room

In 1st grade Math we made visual models to solve word problems and solved word problems when one addend is unknown. In Reading we associated long-vowel sounds with CV words.

In 2nd grade Math we told and wrote time to 5 minutes, wrote and told time in different ways, and told and wrote time in A.M. and P.M. In Reading class, we associated oo, ew with the long and short /oo/ and we used quotation marks and commas to complete dialogue sentences.

In 3rd grade Math we multiplied and divided with 7, and 9, and worked on building fluency in multiplication and division. In Reading we are reading the novel “Shiloh” by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.

In Religion we heard how a captain showed his faith by trusting in Jesus to help his servant. Jesus has power to help us in times of trouble. Our next lesson was how a woman kept praying to Jesus and trusted that he would answer her prayer. Jesus does not want us to give up praying to him for help.

Mr. Gephart’s Room

Hi Parents, Family, and Friends,

Here is a look into the classroom this week.

In Reading the 4th-5th graders are reading “Holes”. What do holes have anything to do with breaking the law? The 6th-8th graders are reading “Number the Stars”. A book about a Jewish girl in Denmark during WWII.

In Grammar this week we are learning about nouns and plurals.

In Math the 4th graders are learning about charts and graphs. The 5th graders are working with decimal places. The 6th graders are working with charts and graphs. The 7th graders are learning how to graph. The 8th graders are working with system of equations.

In Science, the 4th-5th graders are learning about Simple Machines. The 6-8th grades are learning about the endocrine system.

In History the upper graders are studying ancient civilizations. We are currently on ancient Greece. The lower graders are learning about the start of the United States. We are studying the early British colonies.

In Writing we are practicing our body sentences.

For the next 6 weeks, we welcome Matthew Krueger into the classroom. We’re excited to have him and to help him get some practice teaching.
