SCRIP ORDERS

The Holidays are here! Don't forget to purchase your gift cards through us!

Scrip fundraising is a no-selling program that allows families to raise money for their organization. Scrip is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards. You purchase gift cards from your organization and IGLS receives an instant rebate. Itā€™s really that simple! When you use scrip gift cards at your favorite retailers, youā€™re fundraising while you shop. RaiseRight offers more than 700 of the countryā€™s biggest retailers, including grocery, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more.

Itā€™s time to put your shopping dollars to work!

Ordering forms are in the office at school or also located at Immanual and Grace churches. Electronic versions can be emailed upon request.

TEACHER CHRISTMAS GIFTS

The teachers and myself have created an Amazon Gift List for items they'd like for their classrooms or personal use. Instead of getting those teacher coffee mugs again this year for a Christmas gift šŸ˜‰ think about purchasing an item off their list OR purchasing an Amazon gift card that they can use.

CLASSROOM CHRISTMAS PARTIES

Teachers will be sending out information for their individual classrooms regarding Christmas parties.

NO SCHOOL

Before you know it, Christmas break is going to be here! Donā€™t forget there is no school December 20th ā€“ January 1st with classes resuming on Thursday, January 2nd.

PRESCHOOL (3): Miss Lokensgard

Happy December!!

We are in full swing of Christmas in the preschool room. It is decorated as the north pole. We have a wrapping present table and decorating the Christmas tree in the dramatic play area. At the writing table the kids can write a letter to Santa by putting their letter into an envelope and into the mailbox. The science area is a Bakery!! The sensory table has corn starch, oats, candy canes, and candy dots to make Christmas cookies. The activity center will be matching the Christmas tree number game and matching colors and shapes, and putting gems on the letter Jj. We are also learning about the color Red, shape Circle, letter Jj, and the number 1.

Monday- We worked on our phonics page and we glued on strips of green paper from smallest to largest to make a Christmas tree for our STEM project.

Tuesday- Practiced writing the letter Jj on a chalkboard. We also worked on our parents' Christmas gift.

Wednesday- Christmas lights name activating and then we had show-n-share.

Thursday- We worked on our scribble scrabble page and we made a book on the bible story.

Friday- We will be learning about Dice and matching the number. At the fine motor center, they will be using stickers to make a star. With the older preschoolers we will be playing a game of ā€œPreschool Basketballā€.

The Bible story is Mary's good news. Memory treasure is ā€œToday a savior has been born in Bethlehemā€ Luke 2:11.

PRESCHOOL (4): Mrs. Dragt

I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving break!

Happy December!!!

Our focus wall this week is the letter Bb, number 12, our shape is an octagon, and our color is black.

As we start our Christmas month, it only makes sense to bring something that looks or sounds like Christmas for show and share! We also will be doing a candy cane experiment to see what a candy cane will do when you put them in hot water, vinegar and soda. I'm excited to see what their conclusions are. For movement we are going to play preschool basketball with Ms. Lokensgardā€™s class. We also will be making a letter Bb book for our letter recognition.

Our bible lesson is Five Stones and a Sling. We are learning about David and Goliath and how with God on our side we donā€™t need to be afraid because he is there to protect us!

Memory Treasure is ā€œI know the plans I have for youā€ Jeremiah 29:11

K-1st: Mrs. Eckstrand

This week our Bible lesson is David and Goliath. We learned that even though David came up against a very BIG problem with Goliath, he knew that God was with him. He trusted God to help him defeat Goliath. Psalm 56:11 "In God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Is our memory treasure.

In reading, 1st grade is learning the -ng digraph, which is also in their spelling list. They are finishing their story about an activity they did, and they will start looking at how to write an opinion paragraph. Kindergarten is actually READING with Doc. We are sliding and blending letter sounds together to read silly words and real words. We are starting our sight/memory words work also.

In Math, 1st grade is learning subtraction. They are taking apart, counting back and subtracting 0. Kindergarten is looking at solid 3D shapes and reviewing the flat shapes.

In social studies we are learning how to write/ answer questions in our notebooks.

We have started our "parent present" for Christmas and decorated our room!

There will be many new things in the next few weeks, so help me catch kids if they need to unwind a little. They will quickly adjust though because the new information/learning is just so exciting!
