CALL for 3-5th grade teacher:
A call meeting was held last week, and the decision was made to extend a call to Ms. Hannah Rundgren for the 2027/2028 school year for grades 3-5. She currently is serving at Divine Savior Academy in Doral, FL. Please keep her in your prayers as she deliberates where best to serve.
For those that are not aware, Ms. Ewart was only assigned to teach here for this school year. If you are new to the WELS teacher system a call is the process by which we offer a job position to a qualified candidate, they then consider if that position would be the best fit for their skills and talents and based on that decide to accept or return (decline) the position.

Welcome To Woodland Animal Week
Focus Wall
Letter: Mm
Number: 6
Color: Purple
Shape: Diamond
Monday - We worked on making the letter Mm, and we also worked on keeping our bodies
moving on a rainy day by playing our own version of badminton.
Tuesday - With another rainy day, we had a little mixed-up schedule and got outside when we could. We worked hard on recognizing numbers, then used finger paint to count out woodland animals to match the number. Then we played a few rounds of musical chairs.
Wednesday- We practiced writing the number 6. To work on our motor skills, we passed a
paper pumpkin around to friends with a clothespin (we never got around to it during pumpkin week). Figuring out that you need to open the clothespin to pass might be tricky, but they'll get it!
Thursday - Show and share is to bring in something you found on a nature walk with Mom and Dad. Get out those raincoats and boots! 😊 We continue to work on our first names and some last names.
Friday - In art, we are going to rip paper, glue it down on a paper plate, and make owls.
Our Jesus story: Hannah Prays. Memory Treasure God… has heard my prayers. Psalm 66:19
KINDERGARTEN: Mrs. Eckstrand
This week our Bible lessons are Baby Moses, and God Speaks to Moses from a Burning bush. First, we hear how God saved Moses from a bad Pharoah when his mom made a basket and placed him in the reeds. The Princess found him, hired mom to raise him, and at the age of 5 or 6 named him Moses. He then grew up in Pharaoh's house. As an adult Moses became a shepherd. This is when God called him through a burning bush to lead the Israelites out of their slavery in Egypt. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. Is our Memory treasure this week.
In Reading, we continue activities with Tamika! She took a train trip to Toledo and stayed with Mrs. Eckstrand's parents! She showed us lots of pictures from her trip. We also learned our first sight word "a." These are words that we will learn to know by sight/memory. They often cannot be sounded out. We will blend our letter sounds together this week to actually read and not just say CVC words!
In Math, we are working on counting and filling out ten frames with our numbers up to 10. We also started writing our numbers as high as we can.
In Writing, we are writing our numbers up to 20 and working on writing our whole alphabet.
In Social studies, we are talking about our Veterans and all the branches of the military.
1-2nd: Mrs. Markgraf
Greetings families! It has been a rainy week, but we have been making the best of it. This week in math first graders are working on subtraction concepts. Second graders are thinking about regrouping in subtraction. Their strong foundation in palace value has been serving them well.
In reading the first graders are learning about digraphs "sh" and "wh". These two letters work together to represent one sound. The second-grade class is starting their study of vowel teams by learning that "ee", "ea' and "ie" all make the long e sound. They drew some pictures with their spelling words to help them remember which vowel team to use for each word.
In our Bible stories are The Parable of the Farmer and the Seed and the Parable of the Weeds and Wheat. Both of these stories Jesus used to teach his disciples and us that the kingdom of God is in the heart of the believer. Our Memory Treasure is Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."
We are preparing for our Veterans Day service next week and look forward to honoring those who served. Blessings!
3-5th: Ms. Ewart
Hello parents, friends, and family!
I can’t believe it’s already November, but we’re having a great week in 3-5! In Word of God, we are learning about Jesus calling Matthew to be his disciple and the parable of the farmer and the seed. What a comfort to see that Jesus calls sinners like Matthew (and us!) and that his Word does the work of growing faith in our hearts.
In math, third grade is being introduced to simple multiplication and division and is learning strategies to multiply and divide more quickly. Fourth grade is practicing division and using it to solve word problems. Fifth grade is finishing Chapter 4, adding and subtracting fractions, and will start multiplying fractions next.
In language arts, third grade is memorizing helping verbs, fourth grade is reviewing the concepts we’ve covered so far, and fifth grade is working on linking verbs and then predicate adjectives. In reading, we will finish our novels this week and wrap up with a reader’s response activity!
In social studies, we are continuing our unit on government. We’ve already learned about city and state government, and next we’ll study the national government.
Have a great week!
6-8th: Mr. Holz
