This week our Bible lesson is "Joseph forgives his brothers." We learned that Joseph's brothers came to Egypt to get grain in the 7 bad famine years. They did not recognize Joseph as Pharaoh's second in command. Joseph gave them a test to see if their hearts had changed since they sold him. When he learned they had, he forgave them and moved the whole family to Egypt. We also learned that God gave Jacob another name: Israel. This is where Israelites come from.
Ephesians 4:32 Instead, be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ has forgiven you. is our memory treasure.
In Reading we finished activities with Sal and took our Unit test. We will meet Tamika next and do activities with her. We have also started working with syllables.
In Math, we will finish Ch 2. Chapter 3 has us really focused on numbers 6-10.
Reminder on Friday, we are visiting Prince of Peace. Costumes can be brought and we will change into them after lunch. We will change out of them when we return.

It's hard to believe it's the last week of October already! Our class has been working hard in our lessons. In reading first graders are working on a new chapter focusing on subtraction. It's fun to switch our brains to the inverse of addition. Second graders are learning about addition and subtraction with the standard algorithm with and without regrouping.
In reading the first graders are finishing up their last week focusing on consonant blends this time mp, nd and nt at the ends of words. The second graders continue to add -ed and -ing endings, this time on words that end in Super e.
The Bible lessons for this week focus on Jesus and his disciples with the huge catch of fish and Jesus calling Matthew. We learn that Jesus calls disciples to do mission work. Our Memory Treasure is Romans 10:17, Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through the word of Christ. God's blessings!
