CHURCH SINGING

Sunday, December 4th is our next opportunity to sing. We will be doing two smaller churches this day. First is Zion Lutheran Church just outside of Hutchinson, church starts at 8:45 so please be there by 8:30 – families can stay for the whole service. Next is St. Peter’s near Darwin, church there starts at 10:30 so please be there by 10:20 – families can leave right after the children sing.

GIFT CARDS – RAISE RIGHT

This program is great for Christmas gifts! If you are planning on gifting money this Christmas, please order gift cards through this program. The deadline in order to receive them before Christmas is Sunday, December 11th. Scrip is a great way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards and the school receives money back to put towards field trips and activities.

PROJECT BOOKSHELF

Last day to donate new books to Project Bookshelf! Help brighten a child’s Christmas with a new book for the holidays!

10:00 START / DRIVE MORNING

Wednesday, December 7th is our next 10:00 start and parent drive MORNING.

If before school care is needed (Latchkey) please let us know as soon as possible to schedule caregivers.

PTF MEETING

Monday, December 12th is our next meeting at 6:30, all are welcome to attend! We will be voting on positions and discussing our next activities/fundraisers.

CHROMEBOOKS

We have about 8 left. We are asking $25/computer. They were bought around 2015 and google will no longer update so some of the functions will not work any longer but they are still usable with internet and come with their charging cord.

If you would like to purchase one, please either bring cash or check made out to Immanuel Lutheran School.

Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room

Our Jesus story this week is Mary's Big News. We learned how the Angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her she would be the mother of JESUS! She trusted God's plan. "You are to call him Jesus" Luke 1:13 is our Memory Treasure this week.

In Science we experimented with magnetic force and were able to hypothesize, test and answer our hypothesis. We lifted our library shelf with magnets.

In social studies we will travel to Alaska to see how they play and live in the snow. For movement we are dribbling soccer balls. Keeping them close so we don't have to chase them.

In Art we have begun our "secret" Christmas present for our moms and dads.

Kindergarten: In reading we met Sal who loves sports and the letter Ss. In Math we are comparing and graphing shapes.

Preschool: Our letter this week is Ww for winter, watermelon, walrus, whale and worm. Our number is 13, "Slide on down, jump back up, around the tree, around the tree 13 monkeys!"

Mrs. Utsch’s Room

Mrs. Utsch will now be out till March on maternity leave. Mrs. Prahl will be subbing:

My name is Brenda Prahl. I have been married to my husband Donovan for 27 years and we currently reside in Litchfield. The good Lord has blessed us with 4 children, 2 boys & 2 girls, ages ranging from 16 to 24. Josh, Payton, and Britney are in college and the military. Britney is a freshman at Martin Luther College. Karlee is a sophomore at Litchfield High School. We attend St. Paul’s WELS church in Litchfield. At St. Paul’s, I have been a Sunday School Teacher, VBS Coordinator/helper, Share-A-Meal Coordinator and I am currently doing jail ministry. Our daughters attended ILS and I was Mrs. Utsch’s Assistant Teacher. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Corrections and a Minor in Sociology from Mankato State University. I have six years’ experience as a Probation Agent. My greatest joy is knowing Jesus as my Savior and it will be my privilege to serve the good Lord by being able to share that joy with your children.

If you would have any questions, then please contact me at prahlbrenda@yahoo.com or please call Brittany Clark, ILS Secretary at 320-587-4858 or ilschool@hutchtel.net.

Mr. Gephart’s Room

Hi Parents, Family, and Friends,

Here is a look into the classroom this week.

In reading, the 4th-5th graders are reading “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. What could go wrong with the naughtiest kids in town? The 6th-8th graders are reading “The Hatchet”. Could you survive in the forest alone for weeks?

We are back at it with Grammar, this week we did lots of review of subjects and verbs, prepositional phrases, and direct objects.

In Math, the 4th graders are learning about charts and graphs. The 5th graders are working with decimal places. The 6th graders are learning how to multiply and divide fractions. The 7th graders are working with proportions. The 8th graders are working with graphs.

In Science, the 4th-5th graders are learning about Newton’s laws of motion and force. The 6-8th grades are learning about the digestive system.

In History, the upper graders are studying ancient civilizations. We are currently on ancient China. The lower graders are learning about the start of the United States. We are studying the early British colonies.

In Writing, we are practicing our body sentences.

For the next 6 weeks, we welcome Matthew Krueger into the classroom. We’re excited to have him and to help him get some practice teaching.

Next Week’s schedule - Spelling Lesson 15, Memory Work - Galatians 6:2

Monday - 8th Math Test (Ch.5)

Tuesday -

Wednesday - 5th Math Test (Ch.8)

Thursday - Spelling Pre-Test

Friday - Spelling Final Test
