Mrs. Eckstrand’s Room

Our Jesus story this week is “God Chooses Moses”. God called Moses in a burning bush, God promised to be with Moses when He chose him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. God promises to be with us also. “And God said, I will be with you” is our memory treasure this week. For Art this week they will be drawing dinosaurs as they prepare for their dinosaur play. They are working so hard at it. We think you’ll love it! No Science or Social Studies this week as we have been preparing our church song for this Sunday. Preschool: Our letter this week is Pp for “pound, popcorn, and puppy”. Our number this week is 8. “Make an S, close the gate, that’s the way we make an 8”. Kindergarten: In Reading we finished Alf and are meeting a new superkid…Doc She likes the letter Dd and is a doctor to the broken toys. In Math we are reviewing all the numbers 1-10 and learning the ordinal (order) numbers. **School pictures are Monday: Any PreK not scheduled can change their dates or just drop in for pictures then go home again** They will be here from 9:00-1:00

Mrs. Utsch’s Room In 1st Math we used addition to help us subtract, used subtraction to find an unknown addend, and continued to practice subtraction. In Reading we are reading words with –er and identified that ed can sound like /ed/, /d/, and /t/, and read the story “In a Pickle”. Our spelling test is Friday November 5th. In Math we found the total amount of money greater than one dollar and solved problems using money. In 2nd grade Reading we read words with the –or, -ear, and –ar spelling pattern, identified base words and their endings, and recognized comparative and superlative adjectives. In 3rd grade Math we started to represent division by using arrays, and bar models, and applied division rules for 1 and 0, and related multiplication to division. In Reading we are reading “Ramona Quimby, Age 8” by Beverly Cleary. In Religion we learned about Joseph in Potiphar’s House and in prison and how God gives us the strength to remain faithful to him in times of trouble. We heard about how God made Joseph become ruler of Egypt and God uses his power to make all that happens in our lives turn out for our good. Mr. Gephart’s Room Hi Parents, Family, and Friends, Here is a look into the classroom this week. In Reading the 4th-5th graders are starting “Where the Red Fern Grows”. The 6th-8th graders are reading “The Bronze Bow”. Is Daniel going to continue to fight the Romans or fight for Jesus? We will also be preparing for Forensics, which is scheduled for November 18th at MLC @ 3pm. In Grammar the students are learning how to identify subjects, verbs, and prepositional phrases. They are also learning about past, present, and future verbs. In Math the 4th graders are learning about telling time, the 5th graders about decimals, 6th about fractions, 7th how to multiply and divide fractions, and the 8th graders are learning about 2 variable graphs.
